We are sometimes asked about installing AFDDs into domestic consumer units. Whilst there is no legislation making this obligatory at the moment, it may, perhaps, only be a matter of time before the Building Regulations require AFDD protection for all new builds and consumer unit changes.
These devices are without doubt beneficial to the overall safety of an installation but their current high prices mean that there is a relatively slow voluntary uptake, but this may change if prices fall.
In this video we will show you the basics of AFDD installation into a new consumer unit and into an existing board as a retro-fit.
It is not a difficult task, and, if you follow a logical method, it really is very simple.
