Is there a magic number?

The number 35 is certainly the Magic Number for calculating Zs and Earth Fault Loop Impedance for electrical circuits. This is an easy way to calculate the ohms and the current for circuit breakers, MCBs and RCBOs.

What do you do if you have left your On-Site Guide in the workshop and now you are on site testing and need to know the correct Zs figures before you can sign off the work?

With this method, all you need is the knowledge of what to do and that magic number 35. You don’t need any books or internet connection. You may not even need a calculator, most of the time it can be done in your head in seconds.

This video will show you a method that you will never forget, and is so easy to use.
