This is part 2 of our mini-series on protective devices and this video is about AFDDs or Arc Fault Detection Devices.
New regulations that have been introduced into the Wiring Regulations mean that certain buildings and properties must now have AFDD protection and we tell you what these are.
AFCIs or Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters have been in use in America for some time and have shown a beneficial reduction in electrical fires. It is hoped that AFDDs will show similar reductions in electrical fires in the UK.
In this video from LearnElectrics we will look at what an AFDD does, the different types of faults that they can detect and how they should be installed in consumer units.
