In this video we will look at firefighter switches – which are often installed and then forgotten about; but they do have an important role to play in an emergency.
They are the point at which the emergency services know that they can isolate parts of an installation in a certain and guaranteed manner, not only disconnecting the supply of electricity but also making it safer for their personnel to deal with the incident.
If you are planning on taking the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations exam then you can expect to be asked at least one question on Firefighter Switches. Every candidate will be presented with questions on this subject and if you know the information in this video or at least you know where to find it in the Wiring Regulations book you will be able to easily answer the questions in the exam.
